atWhat’s your blood pressure? Is it controlled by medication? If so, maybe you should read on. The makers of blood pressure lowering drugs have been pressuring the AMA and WHO to lower the numbers for what is considered high blood pressure. What does this mean? Probably more drugs for you and your loved ones.
I once met a man who had ridiculous blood pressure. I mean, it was high. Doctors consider your blood pressure to be dangerous when it is great than 180 systolic and/or greater than 115 diastolic. This man was regularly, when calm, at 220/140. He was, according to the doctors, a walking stroke. He once brought in a bag filled with all the bottles of lotions, potions and drugs the doctors had him on currently. Nothing worked. One drug would lower his pressure a few points, then a few weeks later, BOOM, he was back to where he had started.
Then this man decided to get chiropractic. After one treatment, his blood pressure went to 190/100, a level that he had reached before, but only for a few days. After 3 months of treatment, his pressure had leveled out to 140/85. He had discontinued all his drug use by this time.
Now, this is not some miraculous, only happens once story. A University of Chicago study, led by a Dr. George Bakris, MD, published in the Journal of Human Hypertension in March of 2007, showed that hypertensive patients who received chiropractic adjustments over an 8-week study duration had their blood pressure lower an average of 17 systolic points and 3 diastolic points. “This procedure has the effect of not one, but two blood-pressure medications given in combination,” stated Dr. Bakris. “And it seems to be adverse-event free. We saw no side effects and no problems.”
“When the statistician brought me the data, I actually didn’t believe it. It was way too good to be true,” stated Bakris. “The statistician said, ‘I don’t even believe it.’ But we checked for everything, and there it was.”
Yet another reason to see your chiropractor. Chiropractic, it’s not just for pain. It’s for full body health!
